After 5 months' study and exploration, we have gained a better understanding of basketball and achieved commendable results. Through the whole research, we successfully figured out the trend of the possibility of scoring and also the best way to shoot. As enthusiastic basketball fans with poor skills, the results we achieved have really helped us in enhancing our skills. During the process, other than learning maths, we have also learnt how to corporate with each other and built friendship which is priceless. In any way, the project is very meaningful to all of us.

I am quite shocked when I find out there are severe technical problems on our PowerPoint. A lot of pivotal ideas in our project cannot be presented and our presentation will be in a real “disorder “without these animations. When that happened, I just try to control the situation by trying to apologies for the problems and try to make up whatever we can, or request to show the animation again after the presentation. After all, the judges must feel puzzled and the presentation which I initially believe is quite intriguing is “ruined”. “成也萧何,败也萧何”.
However, this problem actually can be prevented because during our practices in the classroom this problem has appeared. But after add the animation directly in our PowerPoint; I hastily assume that the problem will not happen. The real final proves me wrong and reminds me that we should prepare alternative way of presenting if things suddenly go wrong.
Of course I am frustrated, after putting quite a large effort in making the ppt. But I think this is also an important lesson for all of us to pick up. Always prepare an alternative way or plan B in case any error occurs.
I still hope our project can achieve high distinction which is the goal I set for me and my team, well, sounds a little too “optimistic”
or “ambitious”. But it is good to dream big and provides us the motivation. And throughout one year, I think we can achieve that height, definitely.
The process is always more important than the outcome, in the process I learn how to rally teammates and distribute works, keep the schedule in place, and explore different ways of presentation. I am quite engaged in the process of making ppt and using Geometer’s Sketchpad. I love computer. :D
Admittedly, there are some quarrels between me and my teammates, about the pace and other matter. I think I am too firm in my stand and sometimes am not a good listener. I begin to change my attitude and things are getting better. The effect is also manifested in friendship and relationship. I become more receptive and know how to work as a team.
Compared with 2 projects I done before in China, I think this time this is really a huge leap for me, not only the project becomes more professional, but also learn to use different medians to present my ideas. And what matters is how to work with a team, really!
Well, I hope I can cherish the time working with my teammates and the experience and lessons I learned. This is definitely a memorable experience for me.

Trace back those days in China, I had never attended such things like a “project”. Even if we had research project, we never took it seriously. After I learnt that we have to finish a project this year, I could not understand or accept it at first. I did not think it was related to my study and hence did not understand why we were obliged to do it. But now, after going through so many challenges and testimonies, I seem to understand the reason we take it and really think it as an meaningful experience.
When I enter university, it will be compulsory for me to do some kinds of projects. So start doing research projects as early as in secondary school really helps me to enhance my skills in this area. The most important thing in this part is to build a sense of research. During the research, we faced a lot of difficulties, but we never bent our knees to them. That is quite different from those days in China. And during the project, we also learnt a lot of researching skills and learnt a lot of maths. We also learnt some other useful skills such as ppt presenting and web designing.
However, the most meaningful part is not about academics, but relationships. When we began the project, the three of us knew quite little about each other. Through the research, we cooperated, discussed and quarreled with each other. There were times that we were really angry with others on certain points. But we all went through it and managed all the problems well. Through the research, we really learnt a lot about everyone’s characteristic and we have built strong relationship between us.
For the final round, it was not very successful as we made a few mistakes due to some unpredicted reason. That was really disappointing as we all expected a better result. However, the result is not so important as we have all achieved so much from this project, which is much more important than whether we can enter the Grand Final.
At last, I should really thank my friends and my mentor. Without their support, help and guidance, it is impossible for me to achieve all these.

Throughout this year, this project has no doubt given us a lot of experience because it is the very time I do my own project. Just like raising a baby, the project really brought many problems to us during the process. Our trains of thought were always obstructed because of many other distractions like massive worksheets and many tests. We would also have different opinions, which sometimes may lead to quarrels. However, no matter how difficult the process, we eventually go through it. Although there were many difficulties, we also received much happiness. It was quite amazing when we heard that our project went into the final round, and got the third highest score in the semi final round. It was a huge incentive for us to keep going. Besides our mentor, I would also like to thank our adorable leader, Mao Ziming. Different from Chairman Mao, he is not so authoritarian. He really devoted himself to this project. In order to make up the disadvantages of our presentation, he spent numerous nights designing our ppt. Back to me, although I did not spend so much energy on the project as Ziming, I think I also did my jobs and dedicated myself to the project. In order to present more fluently, I practiced a lot privately. I also contributed some ideas to the project. But the most importantly, I learnt teamwork throughout the project. I know that in order to make a project, only one person is not enough. Proper teamwork is a necessity. The project really taught me how to collaborate with others and the importance of understanding and tolerance. I also learnt some presenting skills from my dear mentor, although I think I did not present as well as I thought during the final round.
In conclusion, I really appreciate this experience. It will be always unique and unforgettable in my memory.
